The Association for snack foods
SNA or the Snack Food Association is the association for trades. It is responsible for all the transfer and trade of snack foods. It represents both the manufacturers and the food suppliers. It is responsible for the importing and exporting of all the snack food from different countries. The SFA is spread in over 400 countries and owns around eight hundred companies. The SFA has a lot of memberships which serves different business purposes like memberships for foods like potato chips, meat snacks, tortilla chips, popcorn, snack crackers, cereal snack, pork rinds, pretzels, party mix, cheese snacks, nuts, fruit snacks, cookies, granola, cakes, pellet snacks and a lot of other variety of snacks.
The Action of SFA on the commodity price
The SFA made a combined decision that a congressional action should be taken in order to control the shooting prices of the commodities which is very largely affecting the snack food producers and companies across the globe. It was a serious action taken to counter the price rise. The SFA has been raising concerns about the increase in rates of commodities like corn, Soya bean, and wheat.
Bakers Association
All the members of the bakers association has lobbied for bringing down the commodity price and has urged a 7 million acre for the federation of Conservation Research Program (CPR). The research conducted by the SFA has concluded that the main reason behind the price rise is due to the usage of corn as an ethanol fuel and the use of soybeans to make biodiesel. Under such circumstances, the SFA has devised a mechanism to evaluate the situation of the grains in a periodic manner. A lot of strategies have been chalked out to deal with the alarming rate of grain shortage. The snack industry has been seriously affected by the grain shortage since most of the food production revolves around grains. Â
Caution
There has been a periodic evaluation of the grain situation. Plans have been made to check any damages like consumer price increase, bad weather conditions, environmental changes, and also infrastructure bottlenecks. Other consequential damage that is unpredictable is also checked. The domestic food trade is also considered due to the commodity drop of the wheat grains to drastic levels. SFA has said that global shortage is a near reality and so people should be extra careful while dealing with food.
